Assignment Overview
.
This year we are all in with in-person learning. Zoom meetings will not be set up unless circumstances force us all into distance learning. At that point, meetings will be scheduled and links shared.
All assignments are posted on our Google Classroom sites. A special posting is made each Sunday with a "blackboard" explaining the work for the week.

Grade 6 - Novels set during periods of Ancient World History, non-fiction articles, short stories

Grade 8 - Year's Theme - Personal Growth/Connections with others. Class novels with multiple book sets, short stories, articles, multi-media, advanced study and learning strategies with application to challenges in high school courses.
Independent Reading
in addition to class readings, students are expected to read a book of their own choosing each quarter. Students complete a summary and project over a three week period. Students are not required to read the independent book while participating in a class novel group. Independent reading activities thus help students to maintain and apply their skills on their own with books of their choosing.
Summer Reading:
All students are expected to participate in the LMS Summer Reading program through the Governor's Summer Reading Challenge. Each student will receive a packet with suggested book lists, record form, and story maps and resources are also available the our town library. Students will complete a summer reading project in LA or Reading classes upon their return to school. Participation in summer reading helps our students to maintain the growth they have worked so hard to achieve the course of the academic year.
